Garden volunteers
Always wanted to lead people down the garden path?
Become a volunteer garden guide today!
Mt Penang Gardens Blue Thumbs are a vibrant club of volunteers who have an interest in Mt Penang Gardens, Australian native plants, the local environment or the Central Coast and provide assistance in many ways.
The reason for the name is that "Blue Thumbs" do not do any labouring or horticultural work, so they do not have to have "green thumbs". Imagine having 8 hectares of gardens at your disposal and not having to weed it!
However you and your thumbs could be busy conducting garden or heritage tours, assisting with garden weddings, being part of special events within the gardens, or promoting the gardens at major festivals held on site. The opportunities are endless.
Each Blue Thumb will be required to volunteer for approximately 2 - 4 hours per month, except in Spring, where this time could be tripled. We are flexible and will fit in with your other commitments and interests, after all we appreciate your commitment.
Benefits of becoming a Blue Thumb
These are many and varied, but the main benefits are:
- Three free visits to Mt Penang Gardens per year, for you and your family. This is of course separate to your volunteer time.
- Free meals and beverages whenever you are on duty at the Waterfall Cafe.
- Free uniform and name badge.
- Invitations to attend two functions per year. These are usually social occasions and lots of fun.
